CEO sleepout to help tackle homelessness

27th February 2019 by Neil Barnes

Benenden Health staff fund raise to tackle homelessness in York

On the 11th April 2019 Benenden Health colleagues Andrew Barker, Jane Storey, Marion Hall and Bob Andrews will be swapping suits for sleeping bags as part of the national CEO sleepout campaign.

They will be joining other members of York's business and leadership community to come together to brave a cold night beneath the stars in the grounds of York City Football Club. They'll be giving up their warm beds to fight for people in York who are caught in the grip of poverty and homelessness.

There has been a 4% year on year rise in homelessness according to the national charity Shelter, and last year a shocking 11 homeless people died in York. We are committed to helping raise awareness of these issues of homelessness and poverty and know colleagues agree after the very generous donations made to our appeals at Christmas. Colleagues expressed an appetite for showing support to this cause throughout the year so we are pleased to be able to get behind the campaign and raise money for CEO Sleepout. As well as internal fundraisers such as Toastie Tuesdays and Pancake Day, you can donate through Just Giving.

The money raised will be split between Changing Lives and York City Football Club Foundation with their beneficiaries being Kitchen for Everyone, Chill in the Community, Carecent, Peasholme, Salvation Army Homeless Team and York Foodbank.

To donate to these very worthy causes, please donate to the team's Just Giving page.
